This past weekend, I photographed my dad's childhood friend, BB Sams, a cartoonist from Georgia. Here are a few shots:

I grew up near Mr. Sams and remember him to be a fine man and creative artist.

I've known BB since 1950 and he has probably been my greatest influence in Art.

Spoke with BB just two days ago and found him to be a consummate artist and a true gentleman. It's my pleasure to acquaint... It's also a pleasure to post in the shadow of Jones. Two gifted and influential artists, indeed.

BB Sams was my XO in Vietnam on board the USS Sphinx in 1969. What a great officer and a gentleman. Never knew of his artist abilities, but I was always impressed with his unique signature. It all makes sense now.

I served under Mr. Sams also onboard the Sphinx, 1970. I once "found" the last bottle of black artist ink for him on the base at Nha Be. I remember that signature well! Happy New Year Sir!

Mr. Sams illustrated my story in this month's issue of Highlights. I was SO honored! Really great work.

I went to high school with b.b. and Jeff Jones. They are 2 very interesting men. We built telescopes together.
